Le Gaillon sleeps a maximum of 6 adults OR 4 adults + 4 children.

It is very spacious (150m2) and has been furnished to a very high standard of comfort. All rooms overlook the garden and those upstairs have breathtaking views to the distant Foret de Lyons.

The stone construction of the house means that it remains lovely and cool in the summer months, yet retains the heat in the winter to keep it nice and cosy. There are two fireplaces -a large inglenook open fire in the living room, and a glass-fronted woodburning stove in the  kitchen, which is vented in the chimney to provide extra heat in both the dining room and upstairs bedrooms. In addition there are electric radiators in all the rooms.

Upstairs

Double Bedroom

The upstairs area runs the whole length of the house and is open plan which gives a tremendous feeling of space, yet it is still divided up in such a way as to ensure privacy

“Mezzanine”Area

This isn’t really a “mezzanine” in the truest sense of the word, but it is situated in the centre of the large open plan space and effectively separates the two sleeping areas. We use it as a quiet space where you can sit and read peacefully, or alternatively the children can spread out and play games or do jigsaws on the floor here.

It features a fold-down sofa bed which can be used when there are four adults and four children staying.

Accessibility

Children – Please note that although we welcome guests of all ages, there are a couple of points which parents of very young children should be aware of: there are no stairgates (due to the layout of the staircase it has been impossible to install one), the house has a shower but no bathtub (although we do have a baby bath for very young babies) , and there are no cupboard locks. We want you to be able to relax when you come here and this may prove difficult if you have very young active children…

Disabled Visitors – Much as we would like to make our house accessible to everyone, it is important to point out that it was originally built over 200 years ago and it has not been possible to adapt it for the needs of severely disabled visitors. There are 5 old stone steps up to the front door, and once within the house, although there is a bedroom and shower room on the ground floor, there are 2 steps down into the bathroom. Please don’t hesitate to call us if you need clarification.
